Privacy policy

What we don't collect

No personal information. CareTransparency is a fully static website. We don't have user accounts, contact forms, newsletter signups, or any way to collect your name, email, phone number, or personal details.

No tracking cookies. We don't set cookies to track you across the web or build profiles about your browsing behavior.

No third-party data sharing. We don't sell, rent, or share visitor data with third parties (because we don't collect visitor data to share).

What we do measure (aggregate analytics)

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand basic site usage in aggregate. This helps us know which pages are most visited, where visitors come from geographically (country-level only), and how people navigate the site.

What makes Cloudflare Analytics privacy-friendly

• No cookies: Cloudflare Analytics doesn't set cookies or use persistent identifiers
• No personal data collection: It doesn't track individual users or create profiles
• No cross-site tracking: It measures only activity on CareTransparency.org
• Aggregate reporting only: We see total page views and country-level geographic data, not individual visitor behavior

Cloudflare Analytics complies with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations without requiring consent banners because it doesn't process personal data.

Advertising & third-party content

Limited ads, no behavioral tracking. Some pages (facility pages and reports) include exactly two ad placements to support the site's operation. We use contextual advertising (ads based on page content, not your personal browsing history).

Ad network privacy policies: Our ad partners may use cookies for ad serving and frequency capping. These are standard advertising cookies, not tracking cookies for building profiles. You can control ad cookies through your browser settings or by using an ad blocker.

We never accept: Sponsored placements, paid rankings, or facility partnerships that would compromise our independence or editorial integrity.

Your choices

Even though we don't collect personal information, you still have control over your browsing experience:

• Browser settings: Use your browser's privacy settings to block cookies, enable Do Not Track, or browse in private/incognito mode
• Ad blockers: Use extensions like uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger to block ads entirely if you prefer
• Content blockers: Use built-in tracking prevention features in Safari, Firefox, or Brave

Our site works perfectly with all privacy tools enabled. We don't require JavaScript for viewing facility data, and we don't nag you with cookie banners or consent prompts.

Children's privacy

CareTransparency is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children. Because we don't collect any personal information from any visitors (adults or children), there's nothing to delete if a child visits the site.

Data security

Even though we don't collect personal information, we take security seriously:

• HTTPS everywhere: All pages are served over encrypted connections
• No databases: We're a fully static site with no backend databases to breach
• No form submissions: No contact forms means no form data to intercept or mishandle
• Cloudflare protection: We benefit from Cloudflare's DDoS protection and security infrastructure

Changes to this policy

If we ever change our privacy practices (for example, if we add a newsletter signup or contact form), we'll update this page and note the date of changes. Material changes will be highlighted in our changelog.
